Freezers and Fillers: The New Big Thing in Cosmetic Surgery?

Freezers and Fillers The New Big Thing in Cosmetic Surgery

On the mention of cosmetic surgery, you would immediately think of surgical operations such as facelifts, tummy tucks, breast enlargement, and other procedures that require incising parts of our bodies in order to enhance a feature. Some of you may even be interested in attaining the results of these cosmetic procedures but fear the process by which a scalpel would have to make a cut on your body.

With today’s technology and enhanced studies on the science of cosmetic surgery, professional cosmetic surgeons have found a way to bring similar desired results—at least, facially—without the process of more invasive cosmetic surgeries. This method includes injectable treatments and two of which that are taking the cosmetic enhancement world by storm are freezers and fillers.

Freezers don’t actually freeze anything in your body. However, they are designed to reduce the activity of the muscle and relaxing it in order to smooth out lines and visible wrinkles. Simply speaking, freezers reduce muscle activity, enabling a smoother and younger-looking appearance. These injectable treatments, however, last for only a short period of time, depending on the extent of the treatment. After three to six months, you would have to visit your cosmetic surgeon again for a check and another freezer treatment. The most common freezers are Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin — all lasting for about three to six months following the procedure.

Fillers, on the other hand, work to restore lost volume in the face that is usually brought about by aging or stress — by ‘filling’ in various crevices, and in turn, smoothing out lines and wrinkles. Fillers may be slightly more expensive than freezers. However, these work for a longer period of time, depending on the type used. For the most common fillers, such as Juvederm Ultra and Restylane / Perlane, these usually last for around six to eight months. There are also more longer-lasting fillers, such as Juvederm Voluma, and Radiesse, which usually last for around twelve to twenty-four months.

Of course, freezers and fillers are only a few of the very many cosmetic procedures you can have for yourself and these are even only the minimally invasive procedures. Other body enhancements and improvements can be done through other means, all in order to attain the desired result of looking and feeling better.
